"Our Wonderful Walkway To Wellness" In Pleasantville
Spike!
I miss him.
We sure miss you Bob!!!
Yes... We all miss Bob! He was such a special human.
Why is there no sound??
RUclips Removed the audio track... I have requested them to put the sound track back... but so far... all I hear from them are crickets. I might have to just re-load a new version.... check back in a couple of weeks. Thank you!
@@apirnala no problem .
My favorite pianist.Miss him.
Yes.. Me too... He was a great friend! We hung out a lot... riding motorcycles...flying planes (I am a pilot too) and talking about cars..... Funny thing was...when he was participating in these other activities, he really was not interested in talking about music much.
A wonderful reading of a beautiful poem
Thank you for listening! My friend did the reading... I will let him know your message. I'm sure he will really appreciate it. Thank you!
Beautiful
Thank you!
The Corsair 57 was originally owned by LCDR, Cook Cleland. Cleland was the winner of the 1947 and 1949 Thompson Trophy Races. Cleland owned several Corsairs which he kept at his airport in Willoughby, Ohio. 57 was one of several Corsairs that were left at the airport when he returned to active duty in 1951. The word SOHIO on the plane was from a sponsor Standard Oil of Ohio. Nostalgia for me to see Bob flying this plane in this beautiful tribute video.
Thank you for your thoughts! Also, I appreciate your kind words about the video. It was a tough one for me to put together.
I remember Steven performing in Diligentia Den Haag Holland. All very impressing.....,the man with the iron fingers,...what a strong touch he had,but..yet....everything under control!!!!!! He was a phenomenon in his own right. Where did he get that amazing controlled fortissimo from? Not from Rudolf Serkin, although the latter was a hard task master either! If I'm informed rightly,he died of the consequences of a plain crash in his own machine? A legendary pianist!!!!
It seems he recovered , but died 4 years later ( Tuberculosis ? ) , or maybe HIV ( Because of the accident blood transfusions )
What I understood at the time was it was from the blood transfer after the plane accident. i spoke with his doctor and he told me in ICU that Steven had taken the amount of replacement blood equal to that of 7 humans. He had a 2 Percent chance of survival at the time from his injuries. It was a wonderful he pulled through and actually did a concert with his brother Philip just 2 weeks after the accident. Just when we thought all was going in the right direction with his recovery... he has the blood issue. Very Sad Indeed!
This is an amazing song and an excellent tribute to an incredible aircraft!
Sir, I am part of the crew that now maintains and flies Race 57. I can assure you, we'll keep flying her in honor and memory of Bob, the man who brought her back to life. Almost 10 years ago, we the warbird community lost a precious aircraft in Race 74, and a good man in Bob Odegaard. For the memory of both, Race 57 will keep flying.
Thank you for reaching out! I spent a lot of time with Race Plane 57 and Race Plane 74. I am friends with the pilot who last was flying it when it was based at Stellar Airpark. Glad to hear it is in good hands. My other friend purchased Bob's P-51 STANG. Also in good hands!
What a wonderful, inspiring person, phenomal video thank you so much for sharing God bless him.
Thank you for your kind words.
I met Steven at a music festival in Lausanne Switzerland shortly after he won the Van Cliburn. He was simply one of the most incredible pianists and musicians I had ever had the privilege of meeting and seeing work up close. What an astonishing talent and such a decent fellow to boot! I was so sad to hear he had passed away. Does anyone know if it was the injuries from the plane crash that caught up with him and did him in?? Thank you for posting this!
no sound..................
Wow !! This was excellent. Don’t even know where to begin. Great job by everybody here and Mike is in a league of his own on that guitar. Love it !!!
Wonderful video. Proud team obviously. Where was test flight??
KFFZ Falcon Field in Mesa Arizona
An angel of the piano. ☄
He was amazing!
Those are amazing planes ✈️
They were a workhorse with all they were hauling. Love that airplane!
Why are they cranking the propellers before starting engines?
In radial engines... the oil will pass by the rings on the lower cylinders after sitting several hours. Therefore, A hydraulic lock is simply too much liquid in the combustion chamber. It leads to a bent connecting rod. Once the connecting rod is bent the engine is going to fail. That's a basic fact.
This was such a pleasure to watch. I saw Steven De Groote perform when I was attending the University of Redlands, not long after he won the Van Cliburn Competition. It was many years before I heard a recital that I enjoyed as much as his. He was absolutely unbelievable. During the concert, a string broke on the piano. He finished the piece he was playing, reached inside the piano, yanked out the broken string, and continued his recital as if it was no big deal. Thank you Alan for posting this.
Thank you Julie for reaching out and posting such a Great Story! That sounds like something Steven would do for sure. I can hear him now saying.... Ahhhh.... don't need it.... still have 87 keys with strings that are perfect.... :))
Viewed this again and no volume whatsoever. My equipment is fine and operable.
RUclips has re-posted the video with sound... below is the link... Enjoy! ruclips.net/video/yhHRYndY2Uc/видео.html
Keep the 47s flying !!
Yes... absolutely!!!
DC-3s with their small seating and cargo capacity have surprisingly big wing-span. Another noteworthy feature is that by the time DC-3s were designed and built the shape of modern passenger planes as regards their wing and tail fin shape and placement, engine placement etc had become standardised and haven't changed since then. Only very minor variations are seen in these.
I also understand that the wing from a DC-2 was once bolted on to a DC-3 when a DC-3 wing was not available. Each wing of a DC-3 transport plane is fastened on with 328 nuts and bolts.
Guess that's why it's called a test flight. I got quite a few rides in one like this (owned by Dominion Helicopters) when I worked on mineral exploration. A real adventure for a lad just out of college. They could lift a suprising load in the net, but we over did it a few times too. Always felt safe
Great footage and a beautiful old Gooney Bird but I am confused as to why it looked like there were two different aircraft? While the paint is the same @5:11 the Tail and nose numbers are different.
Se ora si può viaggiare in tutto il mondo, inchiniamoci a questa macchina che ha creato il mito dell'aviazione civile!! OK?
The plane that takes off is number 30, the one in flight and approaching is number 53, number 30 land and taxi.
C'est vraiment un bel avion... mythique... 😊
Thanks for posting Alan, good memories. Lucky we are still too young to get nostalgic over this though! :)
O melhor avião de todos os tempos.
I love this airplane!
I remember the DC3 as a boy in western Sydney, Australia in the 60's. They flew out of Mascot airport and were at about 8,000 ft as they passed over me often working hard against prevailing westerlies. They were used for 30 years or so on mail and passenger runs to rural and remote communities before being replaced by turboprop aircraft or even in a few cases converted to turboprop. The Australians called them biscuit bombers because they were used to supply food to troops in New Guinea in WW2. A great aircraft.
What happened to the audio for this video?
The cycle damper need setting it’s very twitchy in hover
Love this song>>>>>>bring your instruments to the lake.....PLEASE!!!!!
I just found your channel. You are FANTASTIC!!!!! I had no idea that all this musical was part of you! Make more videos please...I love your voice!!!!!

Un antes del Douglas DC-3 / C-47 y un después de este legendario avión . Símbolo del triunfo del hombre en la joven ciencia aeronáutica , la más joven y la de más rápido progreso !!!

I spent two days waiting for just one more person to sign up for a ride on this airplane, it didn't happen. That was probably my last chance to ride a C-47/DC-3.

Thank you so much for this visual delight!! My dream would be to one day (again) fly in one of these! I did in the late '60's from Halifax to Les Iles du Madeleine & recall the distinct CLIMB I had to do to get to the front row seats! I remember jokingly grabbing the head rests of the isle seats to pull myself up to the next row! ^_^ Cheers from Canada!
